Met Costume Gala 2012

The Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala is best known as the biggest night of the year when it comes to fashion. Every year impressive number of celebrities show off their well toned bodies in luxurious gowns. You probably remember Blake Lively's gray Chanel dress or Miranda Kerr's Marchesa swan gown which brought them to the top of "The Best Dressed" lists of 2011.
Now it's time to find some icons of style for 2012: We bring you the pictures and you decide who was 'a hit' and who was 'a miss' of this year's Met Gala evening.

Beyonce in Givenchy

Queen B was a showstopper in a sheer black-purple Givenchy gown, while Leighton Meester, a girl famous for her role in a teenage hit "Gossip Girl", stunned every present person in a beautiful gold Marchesa dress. She completed the look with some Harry Winston jewelry and just a touch of suntan.

Our favorites were also Hilary Swank & Jessica Alba, both in Michael Kors, Sofia Vergara in a dress by Marchesa, Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren and Ashley Greene who opted for a white gown designed by Donna Karan.

Dianna Agron, Julianne Hough, Emily Blunt, LaLa Anthony, Kristen Bell, January Jones and Beyonce's little sis Solange Knowles decided to follow current biggest trends, so they chose breathtaking designer gowns in vibrant colors. Coco Rocha even chose a color-blocking combo and officially made herself a fashion IT girl.

Most invitees decided to go for Prada as a symbol of  imperishability, impeccable style and luxury. Even The Devil herself, Anna Vintour, opted for a white gown designed by this Italian fashion house.

Sequins trend shows no sign of abating which was proven by some of the most influential women in show business: Cameron Diaz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Gisele Bundchen, Nina Dobrev and many more dazzled on the red carpet in sequin covered gowns.

Rihanna was one of the best dressed celebs this evening according to fashion experts. She stayed true to her style and chose a black leather dress by Tom Ford. Rooney Mara was no surprise in a black lace dress opposed to her porcelain complexion. It seems like Sarah Jessica Parker looked up to her alter ego Carrie Bradshaw and picked an unusual floral gown which she matched with floral pointed heels.

Young Dakota Fanning is definitely growing up into a fashionista. She opted for a pastel Louis Vuitton gown and looked better than many celebrities on Met Gala eve. Singer M.I.A.wore a floral Stella McCartney with not so appropriate high heels. Rashida Jones and cute Victoria Justice also chose floral print for this occasion, while Brooklyn Decker, Vera Wang, Jessica Stam, Paula Patton and Scarlett Johansson played safe with pastel colors.

  5. I see here a lot of great designers and stunning gowns, but I also see Mary-Kate Olsen, looking teeerrible, like a 80 year old woman.
Heidi Klum's head looks messed up and she looks 10 years older too, but I really like her dress.
Leighton Meester doesn't look very good sun tanned, at least I think so, but her dress is amazing.
Beyonce is too big for that dress and, true to be told, I'm not really loving the dress.

In my opinion, the best dressed are: Sofia Vergara, Hilary Swank, Scarlett Johannson, Vera Wang and Wendi Deng.
